1 faces DUI charges after reports of brief pursuit

On Behalf of | Apr 25, 2022 | DUI

While being involved in a routine traffic stop can be stressful under any circumstance, attempting to evade authorities may never be advisable. Such a decision may not only lead to increased suspicion of further wrongdoing but might also act to increase the severity of the situation. A 23-year-old man has been arrested and is facing DUI charges following a recent incident in which authorities say he drove his vehicle through an active crash investigation scene before leading them on a brief pursuit in Florida.

Crash investigation

The incident reportedly took place as authorities were investigating the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident. They claim that while on site, the driver of a pickup truck proceeded to travel through the scene, allegedly running over the deceased body of the pedestrian in the process. Authorities claim that the driver led them on a brief pursuit that ended after they deployed tactics to bring the vehicle to a halt.

Authorities have advised that the driver of the truck was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while impaired. He is now facing numerous charges in relation to the alleged incident, including DUI, reckless driving and evading authorities. No further details were provided regarding how authorities came to suspect the presence of impairment or as to whether field sobriety or breath tests were administered.

Facing DUI charges

Individuals who face DUI charges might not always know what to expect from the process or how best to respond to allegations. Following a similar incident, a person in Florida could choose to speak with an attorney as soon as possible for advice on his or her available options and the best course of action with which to proceed. Such guidance could prove integral to helping a person make informed choices about the situation and prepare to pursue the best outcome achievable given the circumstances during court proceedings.
