Reports of animal cruelty leave 1 facing drug charges

Reports of the possible presence of animal cruelty prompted an investigation that has left a 25-year-old woman in Florida facing drug charges. 

The investigation 

Reports indicate the incident began when officers with animal control services started to investigate the possible mistreatment of animals at a local residence. Upon arriving at the location, authorities claim to have found at least two horses in poor health. They say that a local vet determined that one of the horses was beyond recovery and would need to be euthanized. 

Authorities say that the owner of the residence was taken into custody on suspicion of animal cruelty. During the arrest procedure, authorities say they searched the woman and claim they found her to be in possession of a straw that held reside of the illegal substance known as fentanyl. She is facing multiple charges in relation to the incident, including animal cruelty and drug possession charges.
