Reports of reckless driving behavior leads to DUI charges for 1

On Behalf of | Feb 15, 2022 | DUI

There may be a variety of scenarios in which a person might exhibit driving behaviors that may appear reckless in nature. Improper lane control is just one example of a type of behavior that could indicate the presence of fatigue or distraction, but such actions may also lead authorities to suspect the presence of further wrongdoing. A call about a reckless driver reportedly prompted a traffic stop that has left a 34-year-old man in Florida facing DUI charges.

Traffic stop

Law enforcement agents say the incident began after they responded to reports of a possible reckless driver on a recent Saturday. Upon locating the vehicle in question, they claim to have initiated a traffic stop after the driver allegedly exhibited trouble maintaining proper lane control. Although they assert that the driver initially attempted to flee the scene, he reportedly pulled over soon thereafter.

During the traffic stop, authorities claim to have caught a strong odor of alcohol emanating from within the vehicle and they say the driver appeared to be exhibiting numerous signs of impairment. They also claim to have located an open container of alcohol within the vehicle. After the driver allegedly failed to perform field sobriety tests to a satisfactory manner, he was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while impaired.

 Advice on one’s options

Facing DUI charges can be a stressful and intimidating process and a conviction for similar offenses carries serious penalties that could have a significant impact on one’s future. Those who stand accused of such behavior could benefit from retaining the services of an attorney as soon as possible for advice on all their legal rights and available options. An attorney can evaluate the charges and evidence against a client in Florida and assist him or her in developing a strategy with which to pursue the best outcome possible given the circumstances.
