When most people think of auto-pedestrian accidents, they think about pedestrians being hit by cars or trucks. Few think about the nontraditional vehicles often involved in such incidents. Most recently, a man visiting Florida was struck by a golf cart and suffered critical injuries.
According to reports, this incident occurred in the early morning hours of Nov. 22. According to the video accompanying the written news article, the victim was at approximately 3 a.m. when he was hit by the golf cart. The details of his injuries were not reported. It was just said that he suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital. His current condition is unknown.
This accident occurred in Panama City Beach and is being investigated by the local police department, specifically the Traffic Homicide Unit. Authorities have not released any other information about this case. It is unclear if any charges are pending against the driver.
While this incident did not occur locally, it is a good reminder that auto-pedestrian accidents can involve any type of vehicle; and vehicles that may seem like they may not do too much damage if one is struck can actually cause life-threatening injuries or worse. After being struck by a vehicle, regardless if one suffered moderate injuries or ended up in critical condition, one may be entitled to seek compensation for any resulting losses. Legal counsel may be able to help one negotiate with insurance providers to achieve maximum relief or, if necessary, take the matter to court to fight for fair compensation.
